Embryo & Gamete Donation

For some people, their only hope of having a child is with the aid of egg, sperm (gametes) or embryo donors. These altruistic people make it possible for others to fulfil their dreams of parenthood. The decision to have children or to help someone have children with the aid of donated gametes (eggs or sperm) or embryos is a complex lifelong decision. There are many factors that need to be considered, including potential long term psychosocial, health and legal issues. The interests of the child conceived are paramount and people receiving donated eggs, semen or embryos are encouraged to tell any children conceived of the donor's contribution.

Donors need to be aware that Repromed has a policy to only accept donors if they indicate that they are prepared to release identifying information to the child in the future, once it reaches 16 years of age, if this is requested. For this reason it is very important that donors update their contact information with Repromed, if that changes over the years.

Repromed does not accept anonymous donations.

Donor Program Team:

Joining the Donor Program either as a potential donor or as a recipient is an important and life changing decision for most people and, being aware of this we are committed to making the time you spend with us as informed and supported as possible. At Repromed the donor programs are managed by a dedicated team of doctors, nurses and counsellors who meet on a very regular basis to manage your progress through the donor pathways. The two Donor Co-ordinator nurses are available throughout the week as your main point of contact, assist with all your questions, and join you in this journey.
